Behind every contribution are curiosity, careful work and the courage to share a new idea. Our certificates and scientific awards recognise that commitment — and the presentations that leave a lasting impression.
Participation & distinction
Speakers receive a Certificate of Attendance documenting their contribution to the scientific programme. This includes presenting PhD researchers and speakers in workshops and invited sessions.
Outstanding presentations are recognised with an Award Certificate and a crystal plaque — a lasting expression of appreciation from the scientific community.
An attendance certificate and a scientific award are distinct: the award is a special recognition for selected presentations.
Recognition by the community
The published selection process brings together session chairs’ assessments and nominations from the audience.
Researchers share their work and engage in scientific discussion with the audience.
Session chairs evaluate presentations; participants can nominate contributions they find particularly compelling.
Assessments and nominations are submitted to the scientific chairs. Selected speakers are honoured at the award ceremony.
Beyond the award
Selected authors may benefit from the following opportunities beyond the award. These depend on the event programme, subject relevance and available resources; they are not an automatic package of benefits.
A detailed feature can introduce the distinguished work, its scientific contribution and the people behind it. Short interviews and features in our communication channels may follow with the authors’ consent.
Selected authors may be invited to submit a substantially extended paper to a suitable SWS journal or, where an editorial arrangement exists, a partner journal. Editorial assessment and independent peer review still apply.
About extended manuscriptsA contribution may lead to an invitation to a future presentation, thematic workshop or online scientific meeting, where it fits the programme and is selected by the scientific committee.
Constructive feedback and expert exchange can help develop the next presentation or research paper. Early-career researchers in particular may benefit from focused guidance where suitable experts are available.
Where included in the event programme, a separate Audience Choice distinction may recognise particularly engaging presentations or creative connections between science and art. It remains distinct from the scientific assessment by the expert panel.
Further opportunities for distinguished research
Authors of selected, outstanding conference papers may be invited to submit a substantially extended version of their work to a suitable scientific journal of the SGEM WORLD SCIENCE (SWS) Scholarly Society. Opportunities with partner journals may also be considered where an appropriate editorial arrangement is in place.
An extended manuscript should take the research further — through new results, additional analysis or deeper discussion — and disclose and cite the original conference paper.
An invitation is not a guarantee of publication. Every submission remains subject to editorial assessment, independent peer review and the journal’s own requirements and terms.

Share knowledge. Meet the community.
A conference’s value lives in the exchange: a thoughtful question, a new perspective, or a meeting that becomes the next collaboration.
SWS scientific publications gain international visibility through a broad network of scholarly indexing and abstracting databases, citation-tracking services, research discovery platforms, and academic repositories.
Depending on the platform, our publications may be accessible as indexed bibliographic records, abstracts, citation data, DOI-linked metadata, or full-text scientific papers. Coverage and availability vary across platforms and publication years.
